Our annual Trustees’ Report and Accounts charts how, with your support, ActionAid in the UK is making progress towards our strategic objectives.

The annual report includes our audited accounts, explaining where our income comes from, and how we’ve spent it. Our Trustees are responsible for preparing these reports in keeping with the law and the UK Accounting Standards.

What we achieved together in 2025

In 2025, we supported women and girls as they navigated war, UK aid cuts and a surge in climate-related disasters. This was in the context of tightening restrictions worldwide: two-thirds of humanity were living under closed or repressive governments. Given this grim reality, we continued to shift resources and power to the communities and women’s rights movements we work with, shoring them up against hostile forces.

In a first for ActionAid, we spoke with over 300 women’s rights organisations in 65 countries to understand how we can best partner with them. On the back of this, we created TRANSFORM, a new partnership fund launching in 2026 for women-led organisations leading change in their communities.

Our UK fundraising efforts made it possible for us to support communities facing conflict and natural disasters across the world, including Afghanistan, Ethiopia, Gaza and Ukraine. We also supported the pioneering Women-Friendly Label project, led by women in Jordan, which identifies workplaces that protect and promote the rights of women workers.

In the UK, we launched Unequal Lens, our progressive media network designed to connect journalists directly with the people closest to the stories being reported. We also worked alongside thousands of our supporters to expose the climate damage caused by HSBC and demanded a permanent ceasefire in Gaza.

Women-led recovery in earthquake-affected Myanmar

Following the 2025 Myanmar earthquake, ActionAid and local partners provided emergency shelter, food, clean water, cash assistance and support to rebuild homes. Working alongside women-led organisations and communities, we helped families recover with dignity while strengthening their resilience for the future.

Under the DEC Myanmar earthquake response, we worked with four partners in areas of the country that were most affected: Inle, Mandalay and Sagaing.

Partners provided water, sanitation and hygiene support by restoring water supply systems and building toilets. These facilities were safe, private, gender-sensitive and flood-resilient.

Jordanian women are making workplaces safer

Women in Jordan are leading efforts to make workplaces safer and more equal through the Women-Friendly Label – a certification recognising employers that protect and promote women's rights.

Developed by Jordanian women with support from ActionAid Arab Region and partners Maal Center and Al Hayat Rased, the initiative was inspired by research showing that one in five women in Jordan had experienced sexual harassment at work, with many too afraid to report it.

The label encourages businesses to train staff on women's rights and introduce clear systems to prevent and report harassment. In 2025, 37 companies worked towards accreditation and 14 achieved the label.

Boosting feminist leadership in Afghanistan

Through FCDO-funded programmes DAWAM and PREVALE, we supported women’s leadership and inclusion in Afghanistan.

Under DAWAM, we partnered with the Afghan Women’s Educational Center (AWEC) to deliver community-led water, sanitation and hygiene initiatives, while strengthening local governance structures and increasing women’s participation in community decision-making.

Through PREVALE, we supported women and marginalised groups to take on leadership roles in climate resilience efforts. The programme also helped improve women’s economic opportunities and raised their visibility in climate adaptation work, contributing to longer-term feminist systems change.
